Getting rid of blackheads

The appearance of blackheads on the face is a very unpleasant problem. People with oily skin encounter this problem more often, because the reason behind it is the clogging of the sebaceous glands.
Despite the fact that this problem is less noticeable than inflammations and acne, it is still a hindrance to the fresh and healthy look we strive for. This is a problem often present in males but females tend to be more concerned by it.
What is behind blackheads?
Blackheads are medically known as comedones. But how do they appear? The skin fat, or sebum secretion is regulated by the hormonal system and if its normal functioning is disrupted, skin condition worsens. When sebaceous glands work normally, then all sebum produced is distributed evenly over the surface of the skin, where it helps in its protection. Where hormonal problems are present, sebum is secreted more intensively and does not spread evenly over the skin, but clogs the pores on the surface of the skin, also blocking the way for dead cells removal. As a result, the pores are filled with sebum, blackened on the surface where it comes into contact with oxygen.
Remnants of decorative cosmetics can also seal the pores and hinder the surfacing of sebum, thus inducing the formation of blackheads which are so hard to get rid of.
Pore clogging can also be a result of different hormonal disturbances and conditions, bad eating habits and stress, although skin type is regarded as a key factor in comedo formation.
How to get rid of blackheads
Removal of blackheads, of course, is not as easy as one might think. This is why we need to have a complex approach towards this problem, utilizing the help of specialists in beauty salons, specialized cosmetics and homemade remedies.
If you regularly counteract their appearance, eat healthy and live a healthy lifestyle, your skin will eventually clear out. You just need to be patient.
Blackhead remedies
Regrettably, the perfect comedones product is not yet in existence. Or rather it is starting to come into existence, but it is very expensive and few people know about it. If there was such a perfect product, the manufacturer would be very rich indeed and people everywhere would be happy to dismiss blackheads as an obstacle to perfect skin. We should not however dismiss the fact that our outer appearance is a reflection of our inner state and what we intake. So if we consume fat red meats and top it off with heavy chocolate cake, then not even the most miraculous of products can help.
Although there are good and effective cosmetics out on the market, bearing the names of renowned companies and claiming to deal with blackheads, no product can give a 100% guarantee for their complete eradication. As mentioned above, the problem with blackheads should be treated complexly and this complex treatment includes many steps.
Products against comedones
The anti-comedones cosmetic products contain retinoids – special chemical compounds of vitamin A, possessing the ability to soothe the sebaceous glands and keep the pores clean. In dermatology, retinoids such as tretinoin are used for the medication of acne and other skin conditions. This is why cosmetics containing such ingredients are effective for every skin type. Tretinoin lotions can even prevent the formation of acne and comedones, if all recommendations are followed.
Another effective component in anti-comedo cosmetics is azelaic acid. This organic compound is also used in dermatology, because of its excellent anti-bacterial qualities. A blackhead treatment product may also contain salicylic acid, retinol, zinc, sulfur, vitamins A, E and C, essential oils and extracts of different plants. These components not only normalize the work of the sebaceous glands but also heal inflammations which often accompany the formation of blackheads.
What cosmetics exactly can help fight blackheads?
Every quality cosmetic product designed for comedones soothes the sebaceous glands, mattes the skin, nourishes and moisturizes it while treating its inflammations and irritations. After using this kind of cosmetics the skin feels better and relived right away and acne scars, if any, eventually disappear.
