Every blemish on our skin makes us feel uncomfortable. All the popular remedies for pigmentation spots listed below help in lightening them and making them less noticeable whether they are on the face or another part of the body.
These remedies are recommended only for flat spots, such as freckles or melasma. The thick pigmentation spots such as lentigo and its relatives, which protrude above the surface of the skin, should not be touched at all. If you wish to get rid of them, consult a dermatologist.
It is also important to note that the recipes listed below should be applied only to the problem areas, which should afterwards be treated with a nourishing lotion. And, of course, in order to achieve the desired result, they need to be preformed daily, even a few times per day.
Bleaching and lightening
Shred a little bit of white soap using a knife. Cover one teaspoon of the shreds with a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide and mix until homogenized and foamy in texture. Add 2-3 drops of ammonia and mix again. Apply a generous amount to the affected skin for 15-20 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and treat the skin with a nourishing lotion.
Potato starch and lemon juice mask
Mix 1 ½ tablespoons of potato starch (depending on the amount of pigmentation spots on the body that you are planning to treat) with fresh lemon juice to form a thick paste. Apply mixture to affected skin and leave for 20-25 minutes.
Also a very good homemade pigmentation spot treatment can be grapefruit, pomegranate, cucumber, birch, blackcurrant or rowan juice or the juice of fresh parsley leaves or dandelion leaves. Simply treat the spots with one of the abovementioned juices a few times per day.
Bleaching the spots with elderberry
Steam 5-6 dry elderberry blossoms in 1 cup of boiled water. Cover and let brew until completely cooled. Strain and dilute brew with ½ cup of purified water. Dip a cotton ball in solution and place on affected area. When it begins to dry, moisten it again with solution. Repeat this 3 or 4 times. This procedure should be preformed daily.
White clay treatment
Another good means for removing pigmentation spots is white clay. Dissolve one tablespoon of it in lemon juice to form a thick paste. Apply paste to problem areas for about 20 minutes.
For bleaching the unwanted pigmentations you can also dissolve white clay in cucumber, parsley, blackcurrant or rowan juice. It can also be mixed with yogurt or a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide, to which a little water should be added.
