Summer care for your skin

In the summer, as in other seasons, skin needs continuous care. The steps toward achieving fresh and radiant skin in hot weather are three – peeling with a scrub product, nourishing with a mask and protecting against the harmful ultraviolet rays.
Scrubbing is the best way to clean the pores of your skin and to remove the enormous amount of dead cells contained in the top layer of the skin – the epidermis. This layer is renewed every two weeks with new cells replacing the old ones.
In the winter this process slows down due to the low temperatures, the thick and heavy lotions we use, etc. Come spring, it is best to help our skin regenerate with a thorough cleansing with a scrub product and continue using it in the summer months.
Dry skin should be treated with exfoliants less frequently (every 10 to 14 days), but oily skin can be scrubbed once, or even twice a week. After cleaning the pores apply day cream lightly massaging the face with your fingertips in a circular motion.
The best means toward beautiful skin is the healthy menu. But even eating a healthy diet does not ensure that the body will not lack important nutrients.
In homemade facial masks the general rule is that if a certain food item is rich in vitamins and minerals, it can be used externally. Foods containing antioxidants, vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene and zinc are among the most beneficial for the skin.
Improvise and experiment by making homemade masks of blended citrus fruits, strawberries, pears and yogurt. Apply to skin and leave for 20 minutes. Very beneficial are also the masks with wheat germ and essential oils.
Last but not least, beautiful skin requires protection from the ultraviolet rays of the sun. They can facilitate the appearance of free radicals, damage the skin and cause cancer. Especially in the last few years skin cancer is becoming more and more common.
Experts have proved that inadequate protection at the beach today may cause fatal consequences in 10 years. If you are actively exposed in the sun, your sunscreen SPF should be no less than 25. If your skin is sensitive, use protection with an SPF of at least 30.
